Utas és
Holdvilág
Ludwig Museum Budapest -Museum of Contemporary Art

Curator: Dóra Hegyi
The exhibition „Utas és Holdvilág” („Traveller
and Moonlight” - Title of a book by Hungarian writer Antal Szerb,
has more an associative connection with the concept) was realized in
cooperation with the participating artists, using the special architecture
of the entrance hall at the Ludwig Museum Budapest - Museum of Contemporary
Art. This space is using neoclassical elements, reminding on the arcades
of de Chiricos paintings, altough built in the early 1970s. The idea
was that the exhibited works got in connection with the space, so that
the architecure becomes part of the show. The other aspect of selection
was to collect works which show a new way of using the human figure.
The works have in common that the created human figures are part of
a not visible mental architecture. They are not representing or modelling
nature, but following the rules of different spiritual spaces.
